Frame Card

I am very excited today is my first tutorial for Papertake Weekly Challenge Blog up. I hope you will like this one... it looks like a lot of work but it is not. I think this card makes a beautiful gift for grandparents to give. A note on the side: this style card is defenetly not good for mailing. You will have to give this card in person or add it into a gift basket. It will not make it through the mailing process :-) But iam sure you will enjoy making this, cause it is something different and I am sure you will hear a: "WOW.. you made that?"
Here is my sample, I used the new Magnolia spring stamps Tilda sun and snail isnt she cute? you can find her in the new troll line. The wheelbarrow is from High Hopes Stamps. When i saw this stamp i knew i needed to have it. The flowers match perfectly with Tilda's flower bouqet. As embellishments i used Stampin up Certainly Celery Ribbon and blue Taffeta (you could hang a tiny sentiment off the ribbon on a sting), some of the flowers in the barrow are colored with Sakura Stardust pen. The sky behind the wheelbarrow and the "fill ins" between the grass (celery and wild wasabi ink) is made with my shimmery chalk (Jewel Tones) set. These chalks are wonderful.. you can so easy create a soft shimmery sky without worries. If you add too much on a spot you can simply erase some of it. I even use these chalks to color my Thomas Kinkades stamps in. The rest of the images are colored with my Copic Markers.

first cut your CS to 6x12 if you want a square card. My sample here is cut to 6x11 and scored in half Draw a square with a pencil (you will need to erase later the lines) onto the front of your card. It is up to you how big you want the window to be. To have it perfectly centered you can use a post-it note as a temporarely guide

Draw a second frame with your pencil inside your big frame (i have found that 0.5 cm smaller is the best - see this adjustment on second last picture) cause the wider you will make the frame the wider it will stick out to the inside of your card. Crease along the pencil lines with your bonefolder.

Draw diagonals or use your ruler and cut the cs along the diagonals the cs open- like on picture seen.
Fold your cs along the scored lines like you see in the picture. Remember... i made the frame shown on the pic bigger, so it would show better on the foto. Depending on how wide you want the frame you will nee to determine this at the beginning.

Cut the CS you want to stamp on, to fit inside your frame. slide cs it into your frame the best is from the back. Adhere. This is how the back is going to look like. See the adjustments i made?

Make a nice cover for the back. I used a layer bashful blue and layered this with brown to hide the back.

Please do not forget to upload your creation to Papertake Weekly.. i can't wait to see your card. Have fun!
