How to stamp on fabric

Supplies
Stamp: Magnolia Tilda Zodiac “Gemini:

any kind of white cotton fabric, Copic’s, iron, Memento 0.05 Multiliner, stamps, Versa Craft” by TSUKINEKO or Palette ink pad
when I first saw the cute new Magnolia Zodiac Collection I thought of ways how to use those cute images. The simple girl –T-shirt is based on the idea that you could create each family member or child or your grandchild a personalized gift based on the month the person is born. Some selected Zodiac stamps are now on sale at Sir Stampalot

Directions:
Step 1: First wash the fabric, you want to remove any chemicals the fabricator applied. This will keep your inks vibrant after you wash your items again.

Step 2: give the fabric a quick iron to smooth any wrinkles.

Step 3: slide the cutting plate of your Sizzix Die cut machine between fabric layers to avoid inks bleeding through as your stamp and color

Step 4: Ink your stamp with “Versa Craft” by TSUKINEKO and transfer your image onto the fabric. Keep the stamp a few seconds longer on the surface than you would normally do when stamping onto paper, so the ink has time to transfer to the fibers.

Step 5: After you lift the stamp off, you may see lines that have not stamped quite as nicely, don’t worry you can fix them all with your thin Memento Multiliner. Just carefully trace any missing lines back in.

Step 6: Heat set the ink with your iron

Step 7: you are ready to color the image in with your Copics. If you color with Copics on fabric its not quite the same as coloring onto paper. Blending colors is not easy, that’s why I would suggest keeping your shades of colors as close as possible and also start first out by choosing a very light color, as it will show much darker on your fabric than it does on your paper. When you apply color, start from the center of the image in a dotting motion and see how the ink spreads. If you go too close to the lines the ink will spread quickly over the line. So just carefully work your way from the inside out, closer to the edges. You can iron in between layers to prevent spreading ink. However I did not find that necessary.

Step 8: Iron your fabric one last time.
