April, April ….

der weiss nicht was er will :-)
Hello ladies.. i am certainly ready for some better weather.. even if it is a little Spring shower :-)

I would like to say a bit more about the coloring today on my card. When i went the other day to my local Art Supply store i had a guy who really knew a lot about water coloring and he explained a little bit about the different papers. So, of course i went home with 2 different styles of papers. All by Arches – i love usually Fabriano but the extra white was sold out, i went with 300 gr one hot press and one cold press.

The sells person told me that the cold press is much easier to color in because of the bigger pores of the paper. The color can be moved with the brush a little easier and can be re-wetted (is that a word?) to fix little mistakes vs.. the hot press since the surface is so smooth is not as easy for beginners to color with.

After i came home – this was my first image i colored in with my ink refills'. I am actually pretty happy with it considering it was one of first images after 1.5 years with my Copics. The coloring is really a bit easier with the cold press, however i find it very hard to get a nice crisp image with my Stazon pad to the paper due to the bumpy surface.

Iam sure you know the stamps: this one is an other cutie from last years Hanglar Stanglar 2009 Easter Collection stamps

You card is beautiful Claudia! Don't be afraid of Hot pressed paper. It is not that hard and you can get some amazing results with a few techniques like misting water on it while damp. The smooth surface is much better for stamping too.

thanks for the explanation, Claudia! i always wondered what the big difference was between the hot and cold press - it's so great that you found a guy who KNEW what he was talking about in an art store! most of them "just work there".

Gorgeous Claudia! I love the layout, your colouring (of course) and the image is a fave of mine. I have also found it difficult to stamp images on cold press paper due to the bumps. I thought maybe it had been too long since I used Stazon on watercolour paper so am glad you mentioned it as well. Have a great weekend, Maria

Claudia! This is just beautiful, I love the look of the water coloring. Oh man, I used to watercolor before I got the copics. Actually said I would never buy the copics and now..... ugh, am I going to go back to watercoloring? You make it look easy but I know better. Ok, when we get together you will have to show me. LOL!

You def. haven't lost your touch with watercoloring, gorgeous coloring and card! I know what you mean about the Stazon so I only use wcp that I can use Versafine ink with, it gives a nice crisp image. Love the added calendar and charm! Have a nice weekend. ~Hugs

Wow, Claudia, die Karte ist einfach wunderschön!!!!!!! Traumhaft!!!

Nicole

Beautiful card, Claudia! Your watercoloring is so pretty, but then, whether you use Copics or inks, your talent for coloring is always wonderful. Thank you for the info on the Hot and Cold press papers. I can relate to the Stazon not stamping evenly but it still has a nice look. Love your card! Hugs, Cami
