Traditions

Hello and thank you for visiting me today. I have a Blog-Candy for you, just a little stocking stuffer.
Tomorrow on the 6. of December my family in Germany used to celebrate "Nikolaus" or in English "Santa Claus". I remember my parents hired a guy disguised as Santa and an other one disguised as Rubrecht - his helper. Santa was wearing red and Rubrecht was in dark brown clothes and had his big sack and a broom. The parents gave Santa a list of what we children did good and bad during the year and than Santa was reading it off his big book. There were also notes about the parents and if they did something bad Rubrecht turned them around and hit them with the broom on the behind :-) we kids had a BLAST. We were told that if we kids were bad, that Rubrecht would put us in the "bad child" sack and eventually take us with him. buuhuuuu :-) So Santa was reading our stories and every time when he said i did something i was worried he knew about the stuff i did hahaha. At the end of that Santa opened his sack and we got presents from the good kids sack. Usually i got ... a little toy and gloves, mittens or a sweater.

Soo.. iam sorry if i bothered you with my story - to make it short.. i have a few "candies" for you all prepared. I brought it down to the basics :-) just the stamp. I think most of you have already so much paper and all the extra stuff and for me it is less shipping costs and i can have more little candies up on my blog, so more of you can benefit.

For today i have "Sighlent Night Tilda" for you. She is brand new and on EZ mount ready to go. I will pick the winner sometimes on Monday.
Thank you all and have a wonderful 2. Advent weekend

Please enter your name with Mr. Linky.. it makes it so much easier for me to pick a winner. If you do not have a blog you can use my url to add your name.

Claudia, I absolutely loved your story. I remember simpler Christmases as a child where electronics were not the gift to ask for! (cuz there were no computers, ipods, Wii's!!!) I just love this Magnolia, really had a hard time picking which one to use this year for my cards and it was not this one so I would be so excited to win her!!!

That is a wonderful Christmas story. It reminds me of when my grandfather from Norway told about how they believed the trolls would take them into the mountains if they misbehaved. I enjoy your blog so much. That Tilda is adorable, as are they all. Sandy A.

Hello Claudia; when my brother and I were small one Christmas, Mum told us Father Christmas had stayed overnight. We crept downstairs and peeked through a slighly open door; and there was FC asleep on the floor in a red sleeping bag. The only thing was his beard was red instead of white. It was my mum's brother!!But is still made Christmas special.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment.

I think it was a wonderful story! It reminds me of when I was little and what my mom and dad did. Come Christmas Day, there were only presents under the tree for my brothers and none for me. My dad said it was because I must have been bad and then he said, "Oh wait, there is a letter hanging from the tree." It was addressed to, Mom and Dad from Santa! Of coarse my heart just sunk and I thought, OH NO!... It said in the letter, that he(Santa) got tired going up and down the chimney and left some more presents out in the car, and he said he was sorry! It turned out to be a good Christmas after all!

Love your story - I'm always interested in knowing how people in other countries celebrate the holidays. I was brought up in Mexico and there is no Santa just the three wise men who come to visit children and leave toys on Jan 6th. When we moved to the border city of Juarez, Mexico, across from El Paso, Texas, my parents started celebrating with Santa - "He" left me my first Bible book of Noah and he signed it with his trembling hand. I was in awe for years. Thanks for sharing your story.

And thanks for the opportunity to win the stamp - you are right we all have too much paper and stuff, but we can always use a "Tilda"

Carmen

Always remember, reading little stories about how we all may have grown up is just another chance for all of us to learn little bit more about each other. Maybe when we all learn about why we do what we might do, we can bring about a greater peace in the world. Let us all share the with each other! I enjoy the Christmas stories however, I myself share in a different holiday...Hanukkah!

And I LOVE the Tilda stamps and this would make a good starting point of a collection I want!

that's a nice story! I'm from Germany too but we celebrate it a different way.

Our kids have to clean their shoes the evening before Dec 6. Nikolaus (who isn't santa clause by the way, it's St. Nikolaus - Santa Clause is Wihnachtsmann, but Nikolaus is just a friend of Santa), anyway... the kids have to clean their shoes because St. Nikolaus doesn't put presents in dirty shoes. So St. Nikolaus shows up at night and fill the shoes with little presents. naughty kids could probably get a present which they don't want to have (wood, coal or something else), nice kids get little presents.

I used to love this when I was a kid, now I love to spoil my nephews and it's still sooo much fun, all the preparations for that special day :-)

btw, I've been a good girl this year, haha. I got some candy and some perfume... I was pretty surprised to find the things in my shoes, haha.

So this is my story, hope you don't mind.

I'd like to win the rubberstamp,
it's such a cute one
