Handmade Flower Embellishment

Hello thank you for visiting my blog today. My card for today is published on my second blog "Pretty Cards". I have used the sketch my wonderful friend Carole created for the Friday Sketcher blog. If you have seen my card over there and came to see how i have made the circular embellishment .. thank you! It is really easy and actually quite fast.

All what you need is pictured here:
Scoring Tool - i love my Scor-Pal and it is currently available at 7 kids College fund for an amazing price! You will receive a $10 INSTANT credit toward the cost of shipping when purchasing the Scor-Pal! Our FINAL PRICE is now even LOWER!!!
Paper Glaze, Glitter i love Martha Stewart glitters, sticky tape, big glue dots available at 7 Kids College fund
The embellishment is something that is really in at the moment in the USA.. it is used on cards and on scrapbook sites equally often. It is perfect because it gives you the opportunity to get rid of some of the scraps we produce with our expensive Designer Paper.

You want to have 2 or more stripes of the same width. All what you need to remember is that your circle will be doubled the diameter than what you cut your stripe to. By example if you cut one stripe 1 inch wide your "flower" will be final size 2" wide.

Score both stripes of paper in equal intervals - all the way to the end. I scored mine so the valleys and the mountains are going to be small.

start folding your paper stripe

This is how both look like after i have finished folding them

add some sticky tape to both ends and adhere the stripes together

This is how it is going to look like

Place a big glue dot in the middle of your circle

and simply push with your fingers the paper to the inside, closing the circle

Now you can start to embellish your element. I used Paper Glaze and added it just around the outside of the "flower"

I sprinkled generously glitter over it

shake excess off
finish your embellishment off with buttons, prima flowers or as on my card seen on Pretty Cards with a circular sentiment stamped and cut out with punches.
add a generous amount of sticky tape to the back so it will hold in place and you can use this to add the element to your craft.
This flower is a wonderful idea to add also to 3 D - projects as tins or boxes. Nothing super new.. but something to try this weekend????? I hope you like it!
My card for tomorrow is going to have an other embellishment using the Imaginice paper. Getting rid of all the scraps i have :-)
Have a good weekend

Wow Claudia, I have not seen these flowers used as embellishments before. Or maybe I saw them, and just assumed that they were store bought. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. When you call for a "big" glue dot, what size, and color of box are you suggesting we use? Thanks again, Linda S. in NE
