A true story, maybe you can please?

Hello friends, today I am posting to tell you something that is on my heart and possibly ask you to help and support if you can

Yesterday afternoon when I  dropped off Niklas at school, the grandmother of one of Niklas classmates walked to the front door letting her grandson in. I noticed since school started that she was walking with a cane. The teacher ran and opened the door for her and told her to stay in the car. Than she asked all of us if we would walk Brandon in if we saw the grandmother arrive. Than she told us as much as she was allowed – that the grandmother is taking care of 4 boys all by herself and she is in her final days with cancer. Just recently the grandmothers mother passed away due to the same cancer. Right now they have no idea what is going to happen with the 4 boys when the grandmother is gone. Since the last few weeks, she has gone worse and worse.

I look at this four year old little boy and it breaks my heart. Everyday he has trouble going into his classroom and cries and kicks he does not want to leave  his grandmother. I believe he must know what is going on. The brother in age next to Brandon, his name is Tyler and he is around 8 years old and goes with Lucas into the same class. I met him once and he is such a smart and nice kid.

Well.. iam sure you have in your own family and school district similar situations and we all try to do our best. There are so many places who ask for money to support people in need – I see that every day when I go to stores the Salvation Army rings the bells and the bins to give “toys for tots”… and I do sent the boys to drop the change after shopping into the bins.. however… it is really real to see the family and “knowing” the kids and how sad the future for those kids is.

The situation did not let me rest yesterday. I asked myself what I could do to help. I have called a few of my friends and we have some warm winter clothes for the boys. My goal now is to raise money to give to the grandmother a gift card for a grocery store to purchase food.

If you can spare any small amount of money or maybe you have some books or toys your kids have outgrown would you eventually be able to donate it? Books can be posted cheaply by sending them as Media Mail. You know.. I think they would be just grateful for anything that’s under the tree for those boys.

Starting this weekend I am going to offer some of my cards for purchase on Ebay – all proceed made from the sale, iam going to donate to the family. I am going to add to the gift card a little note writing each name onto the card who supported. If you like to just donate through pay pal something it would be gratefully appreciated.

This is my first try of a fundraiser. If you have any ideas or suggestions.. I would happy to get your advice.

I do not know how to add a paypal button “donate” to my blog yet but if you like to sent some money through Paypal to help Brandon, his 3 bothers and his grandmother you could use this paypal address

claudiaesrosa at hotmail.com

please sent money as gift and add a note –  “Brandon”

Even if you can not donate something..  could you please help me by spreading the word for the family about the fundraiser?

Thank you all for reading.

This is such a sad story. I also would like to donate and need to know how long we'll have to help. Also, is there someone who could volunteer to take the boys to and from school for her? I just can't imagine...horrifying.

Thank you ladies!
i thought maybe until 1 week before school ends so i can, buy the card and give it to her on the second last day of school I do not want to miss her in the lobby..
I have to look into the school calendar.

Some moms talked about that yesterday picking up the kids, there are some moms living close to her neighborhood. Brandon has a hard time. He literally sticks his legs out and refuses to go to classroom and cries. It is getting better.

Makes me feel so sad reading this. I cannot donate any money but will try to think of more ideas, so nice of you to help them! Maybe just make some christmas decorations since I can imagine she doesn't have a lot of time herself to decorate. Good luck with the fundraiser! Hugs, Hanneke

Thank you so much - EVERYONE just considering it.

email me if you like my house address to sent the donations.

i will ask my teacher today for the ages of the 2 older boys.
I only know Brandon he is 5 (Kindergarten) and Tylor he is 8. I think clothes size 8 are going to fit him. My Lucas is bigger.

hugs

Thank you everybody for your comment and we have already received some help in funds!

I told our Kindergarten teacher (in school they do not know that iam a mad paper crafter)about the fundraiser and she was almost in tears.

There is more to the situation that i can share here and put in actual words here on the blog.

Just 2.50 dollars will help to purchase 1 gallon of milk at our local Kroger store or for Europe 5 liter Milch.

Thank you so much
Claudia

Claudia, I am certain you could get digi image donations from quite a few companies to do a fund raiser. The companies donate the images, and then you sell them at a good price, all proceeds going to the family. It is a wonderful thing that you are doing.

Claudia, what a heartbreaking story, and to have this happen during the holidays. You are so thoughtful to help this family out; thank you for sharing their story and letting us care as well.

I did my donation through PayPal to you with the added note and will continue to follow your blog for updates. I love your artwork and am not surprised that such a gifted person with ability to relay such beauty in her work, has such beauty in her soul as well. Many blessings to you for what you are doing to help this family.

I would really want to help Claudia. I have a bunch of handmade crocheted things, albums, necklaces etc, but don't know where I'll be able to raise some money with it. If you could spread the word I can upload the things I have to my etsy or if you'd prefer to do it on yours. Just let me know.
